Saturday Morning Water is a collection of modern but timeless images from Newcastle’s beach-side Merewether Baths.
“My family practically lived at Merewether Baths. Everything appeared hazy and blurred through stinging saltwater-filled eyes. Mum, Dad and the regulars swam laps … I admired their discipline. I learnt to swim there. I almost drowned there. Safety was the teacher’s matronly bosom and floral bathing cap. I floated and daydreamed. I got my first kiss there … it was a stolen one, underwater. I giggled and gossiped and made lifelong friends. My camera is guided by these memories.”
The exhibition opens at 6pm on Thursday 5th April at the Huw Davies Gallery, Manuka Arts Centre and continues until 29th April.
The paper selected for Kerry’s prints was Canson Infinity Arches Velin Museum Rag.
