SUSTAINABILITY
Macquarie Editions firmly believes it has a responsibility to act ethically and with a minimum impact on the environment.
- The papers used are predominately cotton (rag) based, a natural fibre with an attendant production footprint. Papers based on sustainable/waste products – such as from Hahnemühle’s Natural Line: Bamboo, Sugar Cane (bagasse) [discontinued but limited stock available], Agave (sisal), Hemp plus a selection of Washi papers: Unryu, Kozo, Torinoko – are available.
- The packaging (boxes) for papers is generally reused e.g. for mailing finished prints.
- Any waste paper (from imperfect prints, offcuts) is recycled using council facilities.
- The inks used are aqueous pigmented. MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for the individual colours are available here (select Large Format Printers and SureColor P7560 – 24″).
- All used ink cartridges are recycled with Close the Loop.
- Macquarie Editions operates as a home-based business. The heritage-listed house has a solar system installed and is a net exporter of electricity over the year.
