Trucking – Lorna Sim

Trucking is Lorna’s first large solo exhibition, somewhat surprising given her demonstrable photographic talent over the years I have worked with her and the ready appeal of her images. For this show Lorna has chosen a less frequented subject and married this with her skills in graphic treatment.

“I have photographed trucks from the car (as a passenger) on trips between Canberra and Sydney. I often wonder what it’s like to be up there in such a powerful machine overlooking the vast horizon, kilometres after seemingly endless kilometres. I’ve always been curious about a trucker’s perspective on the world (photographically and literally) — the places they see, the people and weather they meet, the big and little tragedies, the life that’s played out along the highways and ‘low-ways’ they travel.”

The exhibition opens at 6pm, Thursday 18th March at the Huw Davies Gallery, Manuka Arts Centre and continues to 1st April.

The paper selected for these large prints was Canson Infinity Arches Velin Museum Rag.
